Can I Say?
Can I Say is an abstract, yet profoundly thought provoking commentary on each artist's current views on any topic they feel the desire to speak on. Four very different creative styles with a widely varying range of content. Four unique, intriguing verses seemingly unrelated in some ways, yet bound together by the unity of the human experience, somehow become one cohesive body of work that invites the listener to explore the many dimensions of the mind, life, and the world around us. The first verse by KK47 is a contemplative reflection of the ever changing nature of the global collective consciousness, the effects of the ruling elite dissineminating propaganda, tampering with Mother Nature, executing acts of war, and possibly withholding secret technology, ancient knowledge, and age old plans to increase control of resources (including the power of the human mind). Heavily drenched in metaphors intentionally left open to interpretation, a major theme of this verse is the concept of duality, polarity, notably the complete reversal of dichotomous themes, and the resolution of the illusion of duality. This verse hints at explaining creation utilizing innate knowledge already contained within every human, as well as citing recurring symbols and concepts throughout history that can be used to get closer to the truth of humanity's origins. The next artist, Jiant, explodes onto the track with confidence and bold energy reminiscent of an eclectic mix of artists and groups (think Killah Priest mixed with certain elements of Brother Ali/Andre 3k/Killer Mike but with his own divine style and flow) . After a hard hitting series of bars that seem superhuman or Godlike, Jiant ends his high level verse by giving credit to the Most High, stating that God has our backs now. And then begins Lil Twiz's verse - bars interjected with funny, wildly sexual, storytelling skills combined with tight rhyme schemes that any artist would find impressive considering the amount of rhyming words he packs into his verse about a chick he's getting freaky with. There's a part where he's expressing thoughts of how he thinks this chick might rob him (idk why but that part really made me laugh out loud). Just listen lol... you don't wanna miss it. And last but not certainly not least, a must hear short verse from the infamous crew boss, Dirty Gramps himself. He comes in to finish off the track with his smooth, authentic style and does the unthinkable - this man manages to lay down a verse that effectively ties together the plethora of subject matter, from philosophy to Cassius Clay to God to pickle tickling while possibly getting robbed, and uses his lyrical skills, life experience, and musical prowess to transform the track from three separate perspectives into an immutable, deep, complete, inseparable, unified masterpiece reflecting our own power and the multifaceted yet intertwined spectrum of creativity born of diversity.
