Lil Durk's music career began to take shape in the early 2010s. Here's a brief overview: Growing up in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, Lil Durk (Durk Derrick Banks) was exposed to hip-hop from a young age. He started rapping in his teenage years, influenced by artists like Snoop Dogg, Notorious B.I.G., and Tupac Shakur. In 2011, Lil Durk dropped out of high school to focus on his music career. He started performing at local open mic nights and recording songs in his mother's basement. Lil Durk's early mixtapes, such as "I'm a Hitta" (2011) and "Signed to the Streets" (2013), gained traction in Chicago's hip-hop scene. His raw, street-oriented lyrics and melodic flow resonated with listeners. In 2012, Lil Durk co-founded the collective Only the Family (OTF) with his friends and fellow artists. OTF would eventually become a record label and play a significant role in launching the careers of other Chicago-based artists. Lil Durk's big break came in 2013 when he was featured on several tracks with prominent Chicago rapper Chief Keef. This exposure helped Lil Durk gain a wider audience and attract attention from record labels. In 2015, Lil Durk signed with Def Jam Recordings and released his debut studio album, "Remember My Name," which featured the hit single "Like Me" (feat. Jeremih). Since then, Lil Durk has released several successful albums and mixtapes, collaborated with top artists, and become one of the most respected figures in Chicago's hip-hop scene.
