The Enemy Within
It's strange... You can change your direction And still encounter the same destruction. Different streets, different faces, Same temptation wearing different disguises. And sometimes... The voice you need to fear the most Sounds like your own. Verse 1 The devil works in details, little failures dressed as chances, . I see hunger in their pupils, desperation in their posture, They'll exchange a piece of conscience for a watch that costs a fortune. They put value on possessions, but possessions can't afford 'em A sense of self, so they keep buying things to feel important. envy turns to anger, watched the anger turn to action, Watched a need for validation turn to greed and dissatisfaction. Everybody chasing ownership, but , And the man who can't control himself is living under another's commandment. It's a war inside my head, I can hear 'em when it's quiet, Little whispers in the distance trying to turn my peace to violence. They keep telling me to act, let the anger start a riot, . I keep moving, keep choosing, though the road keeps introducing New illusions, new intrusions, new excuses for the losing. There's a devil in the details, there's a battle in my mind, And the hardest man to conquer is the one I leave behind. Verse 2 I hear a voice in the static, it's persuasive and erratic, Makes a tragic situation sound like something cinematic. Says, "You owe 'em, go and show 'em, let the fury do the talking," But revenge is just a prison where the prisoner keeps walking. Thoughts become a loaded pistol when resentment gets potential. Every insult is a signal, every impulse wants an entrance, But reacting to the bait is just surrendering your senses. im a mental contradiction, intuition versus instinct, One can recognize the danger, one can make you barely think. There's a fraction of a second where your future's on the brink, And a lifetime of consequences in the moment that you blink. See, the devil doesn't come with horns or supernatural signs, he's an old resentment that we entertain inside. Sometimes he's your own reflection with a convincing alibi, Saying everything is justified because the world was never kind. the streets are full of merchants selling pieces of their pride, Trading loyalty for currency, then wondering why they're hollow inside. fools calculate their profits but can't calculate their loss. It's a war inside my head, I can hear 'em when it's quiet, Little whispers in the distance trying to turn my peace to violence. I keep moving, keep choosing, though the road keeps introducing New illusions, new intrusions, new excuses for the losing. There's a devil in the details, there's a battle in the mind, And the hardest man to conquer is the one I leave behind. Verse 3 What if every closed door is exposing my intention? What if what I call a curse is just a mirror of my tension? And the enemy I'm fighting is the product of perception? Separate the facts from fiction, separate the pain from vengeance. the mind can build a prison out of perfectly good reasons, Then convince you that the bars are there to keep you from the demons. That's the paradox of freedom: you can leave and still be trapped, Change your neighborhood and address but take the battlefield intact. You can walk away from violence with the violence in your past, But if you carry every wound, eventually you bleed it back. not every voice deserves an answer, not each thought deserves believing. Not every open opportunity is worth the price of reaching, And not every enemy is someone standing there and breathing. Do it... They disrespected you. Remember what they took. You could make them understand. No. I know that voice. It speaks in my language, It knows all my weaknesses, And it remembers every wound. But knowing my pain Doesn't mean it knows my purpose. Verse 4 โ Now I'm walking through the pressure with a different interpretation, Every provocation I got demons making speeches, I got angels losing patience, I got memories that surface with uncomfortable revelations. I got anger with a history, got pride with expectations, But I'm not about to let my past negotiate my destination. I don't fear the road ahead, I fear the man who walks it blind, The one who feeds his own destruction just to satisfy his pride. The devil doesn't need to drag you if he gets inside your mind, He just gives you what you want and lets you ruin your own life. The streets taught me what people will do for something they desire. Life taught me what people become when they don't get it. The devil doesn't have to win the argument. Sometimes he just needs you to act before you think.
