spent too many years years making pain look polite smiling through the damage just to help them sleep at night I swallowed down my feelings ..called it keeping peace but every quiet moment took a piece of me now I say what I mean and I stand where I stand I survived what should have broke me with my heart in my hands I'm not here to be perfect I'm not here to be small I fought my way back to myself and I'm still walking tall let them call me difficult let them say I've changed truth sounds like thunder when you hear them say my name I'm unapologetic for the woman I became for the fire in my spirit for the healing in my name I'm unapologetic for the truth I had to tell for the doors I had to close so I could save myself I won't lower my voice just to keep somebody near I won't bury my truth just to make their conscious clear I'm unapologetic no I want to apologize for being alive I carried stories that were never mine to hold let people rewrite history while I pay for what they owe but I found strength in the break I found my breath beneath the weight Learned a boundary is a blessing even when it comes too late I can love with my whole heart and still walk away I can forgive from a distance without begging them to stay I ain't cold I'm am careful I'm not bitter I am free I finally stopped betraying the woman God made me if my piece of offends them it is not my cross to bear they don't get to hold my spirit then decide how I repair I'm unapologetic for the woman I became for the fire in my spirit for the healing in my name and I'm on apologetic for the truth I had to tell for the doors I had to close so I could save myself I won't lower my voice just to keep somebody near I won't bury my truth just to help their conscious clear I'm unapologetic no I want apologize for being alive
