dear reader part 1

[Intro] Dear reader... My name is the last thing you ought to remember. Think about it. People spend their whole lives learning everybody else's names, Then live long enough to forget their own. Everybody wants a title. Everybody wants recognition. But when the titles disappear... Who are you when nobody's listening? [Verse 1 — Identity & Time] Dear reader, let me make this clear, We lose ourselves while we're chasing years. Names fade out, but the truth stays near, We hide behind titles and bury our fears. Older generation, got ranks to defend, Measuring worth by the titles they lend. But age on the clock doesn't tell what you know, And time can't determine how far you can grow. Education, background, status, and class, They judge your future before you can pass. But wisdom ain't measured by years that have flown, And knowledge means nothing if truth ain't your own. Everybody's talking, but who's listening close? Everybody's certain, but who really knows? You can live a whole lifetime and still never see The person you are versus who you're supposed to be. [Verse 2 — Generations & Change] New generation, now we're taking a stand, Old rules are shifting; the future's at hand. The old might tremble when the young start to rise, But there's still room for the truth on both sides. Don't mistake our silence for a lack of a voice, Every new generation gets a moment of choice. We can learn from the past without living restrained, Break the cycle of thinking that keeps us chained. When the night falls, be ready; the silence runs deep, There's a war in the words that the world doesn't speak. Worlds built on pages, whole futures unwritten, While the present stays blind to the signs it's been given. Words can build bridges; words can divide, Words can wake minds that have long lived a lie. And the war isn't always with weapons in hand, Sometimes it's the battle to understand.
