You can tell by the way that I rap, by the way that I pack
You can tell by the way that I rap, by the way that I pack, I’m as smooth as ceiling fans, get your man, I don’t give a damn, I got a plan in the back of my head that I never announced, I been down so long, when I stand, they gon’ think I’m on stilts now. I’m from where the road get dark and the porch lights flicker, Where a broke man’s dream get smaller, but his thoughts get bigger, Got a mind like a motor with a rod knock, still won’t quit, I can hear what’s wrong with the whole damn world by the sound of it. I ain’t gotta act hard, I got scars that can speak for me, Lost pieces of myself, still got more than you see in me, Nine fingers, ten toes, still a handful of problems, But I learned how to build with the hand I was dealt, now solve ’em. I’m a walking contradiction, got ambition mixed with damage, Got a head full of bars and a past I don’t take for granted, I could turn a bad week to a sixteen with a scheme, Put a beat beneath my feet, now the whole damn floor gon’ feel me. Wait. Let me switch it. I got a screw loose, two bolts missing, still run like a machine, You got a blueprint for a life, I got grease underneath my dreams, I seen a man talk big, then get small when it’s time to perform, I’m the type to make a whole room rethink what they thought they were on. I’m dissecting every syllable, splitting every synonym, Cynical, but lyrical, I’m difficult to get rid of, I put a pivot in the rhythm, then I’m slipping through the middle, By the time you catch the pattern, I’m already on a different level. Don’t compare me to a rapper just because we both rhyme, I got a factory clock and a whole other job on my mind, I’m punching boxes all night, putting punches in lines, Tryna punch through the ceiling, make a living off mine. And I know what it’s like when your confidence flatlines, When you stare at your reflection and don’t recognize that guy, When you swear you’re done with something, then the old thoughts come alive, I been fighting with myself, that’s the hardest fight to survive. But I’m still here. That’s the part they keep forgetting. I done learned a few lessons that ain’t come with a blessing. Got kids that need a father, got a future I’m protecting, So I can’t let a bad chapter turn the whole book to a question. Now I’m back in my bag, put the past in the rear, Every bar got a fingerprint, every scar got a year, You can hear that I’m hungry, I ain’t gotta sound tough, When you had to rebuild yourself, being real is enough. JHolla, remember the name when the beat stop spinning, I was broke, clocked in, with a whole damn dream in me, They might sleep on the man, let ‘em get that rest, I’m the one who kept writing when the world said less. And if the crown don’t fit, I ain’t bending my head, I’ll build my own throne from the things I survived instead, I’m not asking for a seat, I’m just making my entrance, You can hear the difference between a voice and a presence.
