Hypocrite

# HYPOCRITE **[INTRO]** Everybody righteous when the whole damn town can see, But hide behind a smile when the truth comes calling free. You point that crooked finger like your hands ain't stained, Then swear you love the truth while you're feeding folks the same. **[VERSE 1]** You preach about respect, then disrespect t,he **name**, Talk about another's flaws while hiding your own **shame**, You tell 'em how to live while you violate the **code**, Then play the victim when somebody **exposes what you showed**. You speak about your honor like it's carved into **stone**, But every private action shows what you've **really shown**, You wrap yourself in virtue when you're standing in the **light**, Then disappear behind excuses when somebody proves facts ain't **right**. **[VERSE 2]** You talk about your loyalty, but vanish when it **hurts**, Claim you're built for pressure, then abandon all your **words**, You swear that blood is sacred till somebody disagrees, Then turn around and treat your own like enemies with **ease**. You preach about forgiveness while collecting every **debt**, Demand another's mercy for the things you can't **forget**, You want a clean forgiveness for the damage that you **hide**, But keep somebody's failures like a weapon by your **side**. **[VERSE 3]** I've watched you change your story when the facts became too **clear**, Saw courage leave your body when accountability drew **near**, You had plenty of conviction when the target wasn't **you**, Then suddenly your principles had something else to **prove**. You call yourself a leader, but you never take the **blame**, You hand another person every burden, every **flame**, Then wonder why the people who believed you walked **away**, A throne built out of falsehood won't survive another **day**. **[HOOK]** Hypocrite, look into the **glass**, You can't outrun the shadow of your **past**, Talk righteous while your actions testify, You can fool the crowd, but never fool your **eyes**. **[VERSE 4]** You criticize the struggling like their suffering's a **choice**, Then wonder why the broken never listen to your **voice**, You preach that all are equal till their difference makes you **cold**, Then call yourself compassionate while judging what they're **sold**. You claim that you're forgiving when forgiveness serves your **need**, But keep another's failures like a leash around their **feet**, You speak about compassion with a judgment in your **chest**, Then wonder why your kindness never looks like what you **preach**. **[VERSE 5]** I ain't saying I'm perfect—I got damage in my **past**, Made decisions in the darkness that I wish I could **outlast**, But I won't dress my failures up and call the damage **right**, I'll stare into the mirror and acknowledge every **fight**. I don't need a halo just to prove that I'm a **man**, Don't need to hide behind a story nobody understands, If I crossed somebody's line, I'll admit where I was **wrong**, I'd rather carry truth than wear a lie my whole life **long**. **[BRIDGE]** There's a dirt road between the person that you **claim**, And the person that appears when somebody speaks your **name**, You can bury every secret underneath a polished **smile**, But truth keeps walking toward you mile after **mile**. **[VERSE 6]** I've seen a preacher condemn what he secretly **desires**, Seen a businessman preach honesty while feeding his own **fires**, Seen a boss demand commitment while exploiting every **hand**, Then wonder why the workers never honor his **command**. I've seen folks scream for justice when injustice hits their **door**, Then ignore another victim when it happened years **before**, They'll defend a principle until defending it costs **more**, Then suddenly that principle ain't worth defending **for**. **[VERSE 7]** Don't tell me you're dependable—let your actions make the **case**, Don't tell me that you're loyal—let your choices show your **face**, Anybody can talk when everything is going their **way**, Character gets measured when there's something left to **pay**. Anybody can promise when there's nothing left to **lose**, Anybody can preach when there's nothing left to **prove**, But pressure strips the polish from the person underneath, And sooner or later every mask falls from the **teeth**. **[VERSE 8]** I've watched a friendship crumble underneath somebody's **pride**, Seen years of love get buried with resentment locked **inside**, Seen somebody beg for mercy they refused to ever **give**, Then blame the world around them for the way they chose to **live**. Everybody wants compassion when their own mistakes are **shown**, Everybody wants forgiveness when the damage becomes **known**, But accountability gets scarce when the spotlight starts to **burn**, Funny how the lesson changes when the tables finally **turn**. **[HOOK]** Hypocrite, look into the **glass**, You can't outrun the shadow of your **past**, Talk righteous while your actions testify, You can fool the crowd, but never fool your **eyes**. **[VERSE 9]** If these words hit something, maybe something's underneath, Maybe truth found a crack between the armor and your **teeth**, I ain't standing on perfection like I've never made a **scar**, I'm just saying what I learned from seeing people as they **are**. We all got contradictions buried somewhere in our **soul**, We all got some ugly chapters nobody wants **told**, **If the boot fits, then lace it up—don't blame me for the size,** **If the truth hits where it hurts, don't shoot the damn reply.** **[VERSE 10]** So before you judge another, take inventory of your **ways**, Count every broken promise, every crooked little **phrase**, Remember every person that you wounded with your **pride**, Every truth you bent around the story that you **hide**. Don't confuse a loud confession with a life that's truly **changed**, Don't confuse a pretty speech with behavior **rearranged**, If you want somebody's trust, let your actions make it **known**, Because character ain't something you can purchase or **condone**. **[FINAL HOOK]** Hypocrite, look into the **glass**, You can't outrun the shadow of your **past**, Talk righteous while your actions testify, The truth don't need a witness when it's staring through your **eyes**. **[OUTRO]** You can fool a room, you can fool a **crowd**, You can talk so smooth and say it **loud**, But when the lights go out and you're standing **alone**, The person in that mirror already **knows**.
