Pinocchio Nose
HOOK I was born from a block, but they carved out a name, Every lie made me taller, every truth brought me pain. Had strings on my back, thought the world had control, Till I cut every cord just to find my own soul. They told me, “Be real,” but I didn't know what real meant, I was chasing a conscience while the consequences felt. If a boy becomes a man when he finally knows why— Then I grew up every time that I looked in my eyes. VERSE 1 Geppetto made a son from a piece of the forest, Gave wood a heartbeat, then the heartbeat got enormous. I was born with no past, so I borrowed my story, That's the first lie — wearing somebody else's glory My nose got long every time that I stretched the truth, But the nose was more than wood — it was evidence of proof. Long story, long nose, long road: three ways to measure The distance from the truth, the lie, and chasing pleasure. They called me a puppet, so I danced for approval, Strings on my back, strings in my speech, strings to survival.Three kinds of control wrapped around one frame, I wasn't scared of being wooden — I was scared of staying the same. Then temptation wore a smile and called itself freedom, Said, “Nobody owns you if you don't let 'em see 'em.” But freedom without wisdom is another kind of prison, And every shortcut looked golden till I saw what I was missing. I lost my way in the woods while searching for myself, Funny how you find your soul when you lose everything else. A cricket gave me truth, but truth ain't always pretty— Sometimes conscience sounds annoying when you're addicted to the city. VERSE 2 Then the whale came — darkness with a mouth like fate, Swallowed what I loved, made me face what I escaped. Geppetto in the belly, father trapped inside, But sometimes you gotta enter darkness just to save what's alive. The whale was a prison, a problem, and a prophecy, Three meanings in one monster staring back at me. It swallowed my father, swallowed my fear, swallowed time, And I came out different — that's the fourth wall of the mind. I learned that being human ain't skin, blood, or bone, It's choosing what you do when nobody's watching you alone. A puppet can have strings, but a man can have chains, One is tied to the body, one is tied to the brain. So I stopped blaming Geppetto for the shape of my frame,Stopped blaming the world for the weight of my name. I realized every lie was a splinter in my chest, And every honest word was a step toward my best. Then the Blue Fairy came — not to save me from living,She gave me what I needed: responsibility for the decision.I wanted to be real, but “real” wasn't flesh,It was having a conscience when the world put me to test.So if you see me now, don't call me a puppet, I cut my own strings, then I learned how to love it. Wood turned to blood, but the deeper transformation Was a boy becoming human through truth and confrontation. BRIDGE Maybe the strings were never meant to keep me down, Maybe they showed me every road I could've gone. Maybe the nose wasn't punishment — maybe it was a sign, That every lie grows bigger when you feed it with time. And if the whale is the darkness that we all gotta face, Then the light ain't a miracle — it's the choices that we make. I don't need to be perfect just to prove I'm alive, I just need enough truth to look myself in the eyes.
