I came from a minimum, cynical, pitiful place

I came from a minimum, cynical, pitiful place, With a critical weight and a visible rage Had to figure the shit out, get it and live it, then pivot the vision, Now I’m giving ’em rhythm and ripping the mic out the frame I was broke with a motor, smoke in my lungs, with a hole in my soul, Still rolling it forward, controlling the chaos, imposing a goal Had a head full of pressure, aggression, obsession, Turned every depression to lessons and records, now watch how I grow I’m mechanical, technical, methodical, Pen getting surgical, wordplay anatomical Never been typical, never been minimal, Every syllable hitting the beat like a piston inside of an automobile I got nine fingers, ten toes, still gripping the wheel, Mind over matter, I’m living it, figuring shit out for real Had a physical deficit, never diminished the will, You can take what you take, but you cannot subtract from the skill I’m building it brick by brick, syllable thick, with a militant kick, While they’re fiddling, middlemen, little-bit shit I’m literally giving ’em intricate rhythms, Then switching the cadence and landing the sentence exactly where it fits I got children depending on me, so the mission is different, I’m thinking strategically, every decision got weight when I pivot Ain’t chasing an image or gimmick for clicks, I’m building a life that my children can live in I’ve been reckless and restless, aggressive and desperate, But learned how to weaponize pressure and exit From places that kept me depressed and dejected, Now every rejection just strengthens the method I’m back with a vengeance, attacking the sentence, With patterns embedded in patterns, I’m packing the message You hear it in sections, then catch the connection, And realize the whole fucking verse was a lesson I’m cutting the clutter, constructing the structure, The punch and percussion get stuck in your skull I’m switching the rhythm, but never confusing the listener, Every transition is fluid, deliberate, controlled Kentucky to anywhere, carry the narrative, Blue-collar background, but language is hazardous Hands-on intelligence, practical, analytical, Turn a mechanical mind to a lyrical animal I can diagnose problems, then solve ’em, evolve ’em, Same way that I write ’em, recite ’em, revise ’em If something ain’t working, I find what is wrong with it, Then dismantle the whole fucking design and rebuild it I’m working the graveyard, awake while they’re sleeping, Still writing and fighting the urge to quit dreaming My life got a rhythm, the struggle got meaning, I’m planting the seeds while I’m waiting for seasons I’m not what they pictured, I’m oddly equipped, Got a bottle of rage and a positive vision I can turn a mistake into material, Turn a bad situation to lyrical ammunition I’m rapidly stacking the syllables, splitting ’em, Making the rhythm feel cinematic and militant But I’m not doing it simply to show that I’m technical, I’m doing it because this is the language I live in I’m sick with the sentence construction, percussion, The internal discussion is fucking disgusting I’m cutting through bullshit with surgical precision, Leaving the rhythm with nothing but fragments and dust in it I got pain in the past but I’m present and active, My faith getting stronger, my purpose established No need for pretending, no need for theatrics, I’m taking the damage and turning it backwards I’m still in the fight, still gripping the mic, Still flipping the rhyme every minute I write Still building the life that I pictured at night, When nobody believed I could get it right So give me the beat, let the kick and the snare, Put the bass in the pocket, I’m already there I’m breaking the pattern, then making it fair, Every bar got a reason for taking the air I’m not trying to sound like somebody I studied, I took what I learned and I turned it to something Now every cadence is mine when I run it, And every time I hit record, you can hear that I fucking love it I’m JHolla, remember the name when I’m done, Not because I said it, because I became what I wanted Started with nothing but faith and a hunger, Now give me that boom-bap and watch what I summon.
