[Intro] Take a number, take a seat, take a breath, wait— Whole life in a folder with a sticker and a date. Everybody got a title, everybody got a key, But I'm more than what you typed in your history of me. [Verse 1] Walk through the door, fluorescent overhead, Three hours in a chair just to say what I said. Tell the story once, then I tell it again, Nurse to the doctor, doctor switch at ten. Clipboard language turn a person to a case, Symptoms in a column, little numbers in a space. But pain ain't a checkbox, sleep ain't a score, And sometimes what I'm asking is: listen a little more. I know you're overloaded, twenty names on the screen, Somebody needs a bed, somebody needs a machine. I'm not blaming every worker wearing blue in the hall— I'm asking how a system got too tired for us all. [Hook] Read my chart, but read my face, Medicine needs science and a little human grace. Check my pulse, check the facts, If the first idea is wrong, we can double-check that. Safety first — body, mind, heart, Treat the whole human, not a body made of parts. I don't need a throne, don't need special respect, Just tell me what you know and what you haven't checked. [Verse 2] Referral to referral, hallway to phone, "Somebody will call you" — then you're waiting at home. One department says yes, another one says no, Everybody owns a piece but where'd the whole picture go? Insurance, budgets, forms in stacks, Shift change comes and information cracks. New face, new questions, back to square one, Meanwhile that clock don't care what the body's going through, son. But I've seen good hands in a terrible shift, One calm nurse make the whole damn atmosphere shift. One doctor say, "I don't know — let's investigate," That's not weakness to me, that's somebody thinking straight. [Bridge] Don't promise perfection. Give me communication. Don't give me assumptions. Give me observation. Consent. Explanation. Room for correction. A patient ain't a problem— They're part of the investigation. [Verse 3] So this ain't "burn it down," this is "build it right," Give the people on the floor enough tools for the fight. Give the patient their voice, give the staff enough time, Make accountability normal, not a mountain to climb. 'Cause the healer gets tired and the patient gets scared, And both lose when the structure leaves nobody prepared. Respect goes both ways, honesty too, Tell me what you're doing and I'll work there with you. No gods in white coats, no enemies in beds, Just complicated humans with complicated heads.
