The Kid They Couldn’t Break

Elementary school, I was just a kid, They saw my vision and judged me for it. I walked with my cane, just trying to get by, While they laughed at me and asked me why. I didn't understand why they treated me this way, I went home carrying the pain every day. I wanted to fit in, I wanted a friend, But every morning felt like it would never end. [HOOK] You saw my blindness, but you missed my strength, You pushed me down, but I got back again. You tried to make me feel like I didn't belong, But that little kid found a reason to be strong. [VERSE 2] They snapped my cane, tried to take away my guide, Pushed me around and threw things from the side. I remember the fear, I remember the tears, I remember carrying that pain for years. I wondered what was wrong with me, Why couldn't they just let me be? But looking back now, I finally understand— Their cruelty never decided who I am. [CHORUS] I'm still here, I'm still standing, That little kid is still commanding. You tried to break me, but you couldn't take The strength that God put in the kid they couldn't break. I'm still here, and now I have a voice, The pain was never mine to carry by choice. [OUTRO] To that little kid... You weren't broken. You weren't less than anybody else. You deserved kindness. And look at you now. They couldn't break you.
