brother
“3:17 AM” [Verse 1] It was 3:17, rain falling on the window, I got a call from my brother, said, “Bro, where you dey go?” I said, “I’m outside,” but I knew that I was lying, Something in his voice told me somebody was crying. I jumped in the ride, no questions, just drove, Streetlights passing while the city stayed cold. He sent me one location, said, “Come alone,” I pulled up slowly, then I killed the phone. I saw two shadows standing underneath the streetlight, One had a suitcase, one was looking for a street fight. My brother whispered, “Don’t ask me what happened,” I looked at the suitcase—then I heard it start tapping. I froze for a second, like, “Wait, what’s inside?” He looked at me and said, “Bro, just get inside.” I said, “You dey mad? You know say this thing no clean,” Then a black car appeared from the end of the street. [Hook] Now we running through the city, no headlights, Everybody got a secret when it’s midnight. She said, “Trust me,” but her eyes told lies, And the truth came late like the morning sunrise. [Verse 2] We turned down one corner, then the car followed, My brother said, “Keep driving,” his voice sounded hollow. I asked, “Who are they?”—he said, “You don't wanna know,” I laughed like, “Guy, this is not a movie, let's go.” Then the suitcase opened when we hit the pothole, Inside was a photograph and somebody’s old phone. No money, no diamonds, nothing that I expected, Just a picture of a man everybody thought was dead. I looked at my brother, he wouldn't say a word, Then the phone started ringing—it was an unknown number. I picked up slowly, heard a voice say, “You have ten minutes.” I asked, “Ten minutes for what?” She said, “You’ll know when you get there.” Now the rain getting heavier, the whole road empty, But one thing in my mind—this story ain't ending pretty. I stepped on the gas, told my brother, “Hold tight,” And the city disappeared behind us in the night. [Outro] Sometimes one phone call can change everything, One wrong turn can reveal what the truth really means. And when the sun came up, nobody knew what happened… But the suitcase was gone— And my brother was never seen again. “THE LAST CALL” [Verse 1] It was 2 AM, city quiet but my phone rang, Unknown number, I picked up—heard a woman saying, “Please, come.” Her voice was shaking, but she tried to sound strong, I asked, “Who be this?” She said, “You knew me all along.” I stood there confused, trying to remember her face, She said, “Don’t trust anybody when you get to this place.” Then the line went dead, I called back—nothing came through, Five minutes later, one message: “He’s waiting for you.” I didn't know who “he” was, I didn't know where to go, But something in my spirit said, “You already know.” So I took my jacket, stepped outside in the rain, Every drop on my window sounded just like a chain. I reached the location, old house at the end of the road, No electricity, no people, just a silence too cold. Door was slightly open, I pushed it with my hand, Inside was a photograph of a family I couldn't understand. Three people smiling like nothing could ever go wrong, But somebody had crossed out one face with a black pen. I turned the picture over, saw a date and a name, Then I realized the handwriting looked exactly the same. [Hook] Some secrets don't die, they just wait in the dark, Some wounds never heal, they just leave another mark. You fit run from the truth, but the truth knows your name, And sometimes the person you trust is the reason for the pain. I hear footsteps behind me, but nobody's there, Cold wind through the window, I could feel somebody's stare. If this was a nightmare, I prayed I'd wake up, But the door slammed shut— And the lights suddenly came up. [Verse 2] There was a man in the chair with his back to me, He said, “Sit down, son, we need to talk privately.” I said, “Who are you?” He slowly turned his face, And everything inside me suddenly fell out of place. He looked older than the picture, but the eyes were the same, Then he called me by a name nobody used anymore. I said, “How you know that?” He smiled and said, “Because I was there the night your whole world changed.” I couldn't breathe, my mind started racing, Every question I buried suddenly started awakening. He said, “Your brother didn't disappear by mistake, He discovered something powerful people wanted to erase.” I said, “Where is he?” The man looked down at the floor. Then he whispered, “Sometimes knowing the truth hurts more.” I stepped closer, “Tell me everything you know.” He said, “Your brother is alive… but you shouldn't try to find him.” I laughed bitterly, “You expect me to believe that?” He said, “No. I expect you to survive what comes next.” Then the phone on the table started ringing, Same unknown number from the beginning. I picked it up, nobody spoke for a while, Then I heard my brother whisper, “Please… don't trust the man beside you.” [Hook] Some secrets don't die, they just wait in the dark, Some wounds never heal, they just leave another mark. You fit run from the truth, but the truth knows your name, And sometimes the person you trust is the reason for the pain. [Verse 3] I looked at the old man, he was staring at the phone, No expression on his face, like he already knew. I stepped backwards slowly, trying to find the door, He said, “If you walk out now, you'll never know the truth anymore.” I asked, “Where's my brother?” He said, “He made his choice.” I said, “Then why did I hear his voice?” He smiled and whispered, “Because he wanted you to.” The room went silent, then I heard another sound, A photograph dropped slowly from the ceiling to the ground. I picked it up—my brother standing beside that man, But the date on the picture was from twenty years before. Now tell me how that's possible, When my brother wasn't even born then? I looked at the old man, but the chair was empty, Only one sentence written on the wall: “You were never looking for your brother. You were looking for the truth.” I walked outside as the rain touched my face, No answers in my hands, just a thousand questions to chase. And till this day, whenever my phone rings at 2 AM, I don't pick up… Because sometimes, the dead don't call to say goodbye. They call to remind you that they're still waiting.
