Sweet Holy Spirit
I quit rapping when I stopped getting high, Afraid of losing out on life— afraid my passion would slowly die, afraid the flame inside would never ignite. Then I grabbed the mic and I flowed Christ. Something inside me began to rise. The darkness opened up and the spotlights began to shine. For once, I was in the right place at the right time— with nothing left to hide. I had spent so long afraid of what I might find, afraid I would lose my mind, afraid to face the signs I'd ignored for so long. But then I began to fly. And before I knew it, the sky was left behind at the speed of light. I was in outer space— no chains, no restraints, no prison gates. No hate. Only love. No drugs. Just grace. And somehow, I was higher than I'd ever been. As I soared, I felt like I was being born again— not in flesh, but in words. A million letters appeared as I began to descend, and suddenly I understood where I'd been. I hadn't been lost. I hadn't been alone. I had been with Him the whole time. And maybe that's what I was searching for when I thought I needed to get high— I wasn't trying to escape this life. I was trying to find the One who gave it to me. So I grabbed the mic again, not to run from who I was, but to tell the world who He made me to be. The flame didn't die. It was waiting for Him to give it fire.
