They Made Us This Way

Everybody's got an opinion, everybody's got a rule Everybody thinks they're smart because they learned it from a fool They tell you how to dress, how to think, how to live Then call you fucking selfish when you don't do what they did They scream about freedom while they police your face Tell you “be yourself,” then punish you for taking space They want originality, but only if it's safe They want you to be different in a fucking identical way Scream: Society doesn't want people. It wants patterns. Easy to understand. Easy to control. Easy to replace. They teach you what to hate before you learn to think Teach you what to buy, what to wear, what to drink Teach you who's a loser, teach you who's a king Then wonder why everybody's scared to say anything Everybody judges everybody, that's the fucking disease They'll criticize your weakness while they're begging on their knees They want perfection from people who are barely getting by Then celebrate a public failure because it makes them feel alive They'll love you when you're useful, hate you when you're loud Praise you when you're winning, disappear when you're down They don't want the truth, they want something they can quote Something simple enough to fit inside a fucking post Scream: You made celebrities out of strangers. You made villains out of people. You made perfection into religion. And then you wonder... Why the fuck is everybody pretending? Maybe the problem isn't one person. Maybe it's the crowd. The crowd that points. The crowd that laughs. The crowd that judges. Then goes home... and does the exact same fucking thing.
