Footsteps

Footsteps *(Verse 1)* Yeah, I used to chase likes, now I’m chasing the light, Traded filters for a scripture that was flipping my sight. Got my timeline full of trophies that were hollow and cheap, But His word cut through the noise like a sword in the feed. I was scrolling through the void, trying to numb what I feel, Tried to medicate the trauma with a temporary thrill. Every shortcut that I took just put me further from home, Til that still small whisper told me, “You ain’t meant to die alone.” So I laced up grace like a fresh pair of shoes, On this narrow little road where you can’t wear two views. Had to step out of the crowd just to follow the call, ‘Cause you can't move forward when you’re facing the wall. If I walk how He walked, then my steps find peace, Even when the storm loud and the sight’s low-key. Got a cross as a compass when I’m lost at sea, Every footprint in the sand is a map for me. --- *(Hook)* I’m just walking in His footsteps, step by step, When the valley get dark, He’s the light I rep. I don’t run this path, I just pace with trust, With my heel on fear and my faith in dust. Every scar in the story is a sign I’m loved, Every stumble in the journey still covered in blood. I’m not living for applause or a name they’ll shout, I’m just walking in His footsteps, all the rest fades out. --- *(Verse 2)* I heard grace in the gravel when the road got rough, He was speaking through the silence, I just turned it up. He said, “Son, don’t freeze when the night get cold, I’ve been there before, let Me carry that load.” Now my doubts get loud, but my faith talk louder, Every prayer like smoke, every tear like powder. He ignite that spark in the places I’m weak, Turn my shame to a stage, let my scars go speak. He walked with the outcast, sat with the low, Spoke life to the places where the proud won’t go. So if I really wanna walk how He walked on earth, I gotta love those hearts that the world calls dirt. This ain’t Sunday-face faith, I’m done with the pose, If my life don’t preach, then the sermon’s a show. I want my footprints soaked in the mercy I’ve met, So when they trace my path, they find hope, not debt. --- *(Bridge)* If He knelt in a garden with the weight on His back, I can kneel in my closet when my strength feels cracked. If He loved when they mocked, when they spit, when they cursed, Then my pride gotta die, let my ego get hurt. If He carried that wood up a hill for me, I can carry this cross through my history. If He bled for the guilty with a crown of thorns, I can bleed out my comfort for a soul still torn. --- *(Verse 3)* See, I’m walking through the city like a living parable, Let my life paint grace on the broken and terrible. I don’t boast in my wins, I’ve been saved from my sins, So I brag on the One who keeps letting me in. When the pain flash back like a highlight reel, And the trauma start talking like it’s all too real, I remember His steps marked a trail through death, So my grave’s just a hallway where I catch my breath. He the reason I forgive what I can’t forget, He the reason that my future ain’t a chain of regret. If His footprints stopped at the edge of the tomb, Then my hope would’ve ended in a borrowed room. But He walked out, left the stone off-balance, Turned defeat into a stage and the grave to a challenge. Now every step I take got a resurrected pace, I’m not walking toward a void, I’m walking into His face. --- *(Hook – Final)* I’m just walking in His footsteps, step by step, When the valley get dark, He’s the light I rep. I don’t run this path, I just pace with trust, With my heel on fear and my faith in dust. Every scar in the story is a sign I’m loved, Every stumble in the journey still covered in blood. When my name turns quiet and the lights go down, I’ll be walking in His footsteps to a brighter crown. I’m just walking in His footsteps, till my last sunrise, Til these worn-out soles trade for streets that rise. Not a slave to the past or the weight of now, I’m just walking where He walked — I’m already homebound
