Deal with the Devil
Deal with the Devil (Verse 1) The sun is a cataract, milky and blind While I leave the warmth of the living behind. The masses are vultures in tailored suits, Tugging the strings at the sensory roots. They’ve shackled my son in a cellar of glass, Watching the years and the innocence pass. I’m done with the mercy, I’m done with the plea, I’m beckoning horrors to set the boy free. (Verse 2) I’m standing where gravity starts to erase, Looking for teeth in the dark’s empty space. A shadow steps forward, no face and no name, Offering iron and offering flame. I reach for the hand that is cold as a tomb, To carry the light of my son from the gloom. The air smells of copper and scorched ancient wood, As I trade away everything "holy" and good. (Verse 3) The ink is a poison that crawls up my wrist, A jagged-edged promise in a mercury mist. I’m swallowing needles, I’m breathing in soot, With the neck of the world placed under my foot. They hold the strings, but I’m bringing the blade, To butcher the puppets that greed has displayed. If the price is my spirit, then let it be torn, From the ashes of a father, a demon is born. (Verse 4) I’m hexed and I’m hollow, a vessel of spite, The blackest of suns in the dead of the night. The industry masters, the lords of the cord, Will feel the cold edge of a subterranean lord. No more soft whispers, no more desperate tears, Just the sound of the void ringing loud in their ears. I’m leading the darkness to Carson’s cell, If I can’t find a heaven, I’ll build him a hell. (Verse 5) So let the earth crack and the monuments fall, I’m the resurrected terror that’s haunting them all. The deal is completed, the contract is deep, A promise the shadows are waiting to keep. I’m coming for blood, and I’m coming for him, As the light of the universe starts to grow dim. The devil is laughing, the bargain is struck, And the strings of the masses have finally run out of luck. (Verse 6) I’m carving my name in the crust of the moon, To the beat of a twisted and visceral tune. The strings that they pull are now dripping with grease, As the war in my marrow denies me of peace. I’ve tasted the nectar of sulfur and bone, To sit on a charred and a desolate throne. The masses are screaming, their puppets are ash, While I rip through the fabric of fate with a slash. (Verse 7) The resurrection is jagged and cold, A story of fire that’s yet to be told. I’m the rot in the garden, the rust on the gate, The father who mastered the language of hate. Carson, I’m coming, the dark is our shield, To the power I’ve taken, the universe yields. The devil is waiting to collect on the debt, But I haven't finished my masterpiece yet.
