running in a fire
Grandma was the lamp in the black when I lacked hope, Warm hands, calm plans, helped me learn to cope. Now the room got frost, every wall got ghosts, Talk to her in my head while I’m drowning in the smoke. Had to move away, suitcase stuffed with pain, Rain on the windowpane, tears running down the frame. New town, new ground, still the same old shame, Trying to find myself while I’m losing my name. Then my mother came back with the thunder and the yelling, Every night felt like a prison cell dwelling. Heart kept swelling, fear kept compelling, Broken glass memories, demons always telling. Hook Now I gotta start again, heart full of dark within, Scars on my arms and a storm where my heart had been. Part of me lost when the car pulled apart from them, Grandma was the start and the spark and the guardian. Now I’m in a hard position, scarred by the harsh conditions, Trying to carve a vision while surviving the contradictions. Rage in my veins, pain in my brain, Still I stand in the rain screaming, “I won’t break.” Verse 2 Every box that I packed felt a piece of me leaving, Every night that I cried felt a reason for grieving. People say “heal,” but they don’t know the feeling, When the person who saved you is gone without meaning. I was twelve with a world that was breaking in half, Fake laughs, straight paths turning into a crash. Flashbacks, backpack, heart full of backlash, Trying to outrun the past but it runs back fast. Grandma, I remember every word that you said, “Keep your chin high, don’t let fear fill your head.” So I fight through the night though I’m feeling half dead, Turn the tears into bars and the bars into bread. Outro They took my peace, but they can’t take my voice. They broke my home, but they can’t break my choice. Grandma, I’m still here, still making noise. From a boy full of pain to a man with a purpose.
