Old me
(Verse 1) Back when life felt easy, back before the rain, Before the heartbreak, before all the pain. Used to wake up smiling, now I’m fighting through the day, Got memories in my head that just won’t fade away. Everybody changed, had to learn it on my own, Now I’m standing in the crowd but I still feel alone. Looking at old pictures, wishing I could go back, Before the world got heavy and my heart went off track. (Pre-Chorus) I been trying to move forward, trying not to look behind, But the old days keep calling, running circles through my mind. (Chorus) I miss the old me, the one that used to laugh, The one who never thought good things could end so fast. Now I’m carrying scars that nobody can see, Sometimes I wonder what happened to the old me. I miss the old me, but I know he’s gone, Had to grow up quick, had to learn to stay strong. Every loss, every tear became part of my story, Now I’m chasing better days and a little bit of glory. (Verse 2) Late nights, long drives, music way too loud, Trying to hide my thoughts every time I’m in a crowd. People see me smiling, think I’m doing alright, But they don’t see the battles that I fight every night. Learned that life can change in the blink of an eye, One minute you’re okay, next minute asking why. Still I keep moving, got dreams I gotta chase, Even when the past keeps staring at my face. (Bridge) Maybe the old me had to fade away, So the new me could survive another day. And even though the pain still follows where I go, I’m stronger than I was, that’s something that I know. (Chorus) I miss the old me, the one that used to laugh, The one who never thought good things could end so fast. Now I’m carrying scars that nobody can see, Sometimes I wonder what happened to the old me.
