I Don't Care Anymore
I've just had so many issues Piling on top, that I don't know the difference Between what's in my mind and what's really going amiss it's Totally twisted, what am I admitting When I'm composing these lyrics, am I telling the truth Or have I come to the booth, inadvertently proved That I'm so convicted, I've made myself a character In this fictitious story I've told and I think this Who I really am, who am I to other people? But I've got no other stories, in life you don't get a sequel Been questioning my role, the lines, delivery Is my performance expected or am I causing a scene Is my story even something I should share anymore All these tests of character, should I dare anymore I don't think this is fair anymore But I don't care anymore I quit drugs and drink, that should've been the turning point A whole year sober, and what I have learned, the point Is nothing else has changed, still no money to use I've still got my bad habits beyond the substance abuse I'm still getting warnings at work for infractions Not doing my job because I'm too distracted I'm still in search for escape Just not using the booze or the drugs to make these issues feel further away Still have friends that use me for attention Or just something they can get off me as upsetting As it sounds, I know it isn't fair but I'm sure It's not even fairly important 'cause I don't care anymore I've given away, the last shred of care That I have and the way, I've just had it spat in my face I'm just gonna wipe it off, like a clean slate And that's that, it's reality's way Of showing that all you have in this world Is your own thoughts, your own back and your faith You have your own issues, no one else's matters You can't help them, and they don't have your capacity mate
