rage and regret
Verse 1 Uncle Sam’s shadow looms in my head, I see every scar, Every fight, every harsh word, every battle that left me jarred. He said he’d guide me, said he’d keep the darkness away, But his promises cracked like ice in the heat of the day. I hear the echoes of his voice in the hallways at night, Every syllable a dagger, cutting wrong from right. I scream at the ceiling, walls shaking with my pain, Memories fire through me, like a storm of acid rain. I wanted protection, wanted warmth, wanted care, But all I got was silence, emptiness, and despair. The anger churns heavy, a storm inside my chest, Every memory, every lie, every word I detest. Time moves slow, mocking me with every tick, Life taught me lessons harsh, bitter, cruel, and thick. I try to look forward, but the past grips tight, Dragging me backward into endless night. Verse 2 The rage is a river, wild, running deep through my veins, Every fight we had, every insult, every chain. I shout at the shadows, I scream at myself, Burying mistakes like ghosts on a dusty shelf. His face haunts my dreams, his words poison my sleep, I carry the ghosts of our battles, the wounds run deep. Rage and regret twist together, inseparable, Lessons unlearned, every cut, unbearable. I wanted guidance, I wanted love, I wanted truth, But storms were all I got, stealing away my youth. Even when I run, the past pulls me back, Every step I take feels like walking a worn track. The fire in me burns, scorching everything I know, Anger in my veins, regret in my soul’s undertow. I curse the silence, I curse the lies, I curse the pain, Yet somehow, through it all, I remain. Verse 3 But through the flames, there’s a flicker, a lesson in the fire, Rage slowly fading, regret growing higher. I carry his shadow, but I’m learning to stand, Trying to find balance with a trembling hand. The anger still whispers, regret still bites, But I’ve survived the endless nights. Uncle Sam shaped me, broke me, left me raw, Every curse, every scream, every bruise I saw. I won’t forget, I won’t forgive, I’ll survive, Rage turned to regret, but I’m still alive. The echoes remain, but the fire’s mine to own, Walking through the darkness, finally alone. I’ve learned to bend, to fight, to rise from the pain, Rage and regret, my blood and my chain. And even though the past screams in my ear, I step forward, fearless, leaving behind the fear.
