“Why Do We Celebrate?” Verse 1 It’s Thanksgiving, table full, plates piled high, Smiles in the room but I’m asking why. We say “be grateful,” bow our heads and pray, But do we know the truth behind this day? Stories told like it’s all love and peace, But history whispers pain underneath. Is it really just about the turkey and the cheer? Or the silence of the voices we don’t hear? Chorus So why do we celebrate, tell me why? Is it for the food or the truth we deny? We give thanks but forget the cost, How many stories got buried and lost? I’m thankful for love , for the family near, But I’m questioning the reason we’re here. Verse 2 Kids learn tales in a pretty disguise, While the real past slowly fades and dies. I’m not saying don’t gather, don’t show no grace, Just remember the roots of this place.
