calling heavens down

I stand here on the polished floor, where silence holds the sound The sun streams through the chapel door, but no one’s gathered round The hymnal dusty, faded blue, sits waiting on the rail I polished up the altar, too, I tried but seemed to fail. I’ve walked the roads and strained my voice, I’ve whispered, preached, and prayed I brought the truth, I made the choice, but still, the harvest stayed. And the weight of all the empty chairs, it presses hard upon my chest I count the silent, unanswered prayers, put my fragile hope to the test. I feel the grip of honest doubt, the question tearing at the seams— If the candle of His light goes out, where do I take these broken dreams? There’s an empty pew in the Father’s house, and the cold reality sinks in My mind starts sinking, like a heavy stone, trapped in the cage of what has been. But I feel the Spirit stirring now, a fire that defiance cannot quell My faith is rising, I make this vow: I'm calling heaven down, spreading the word, ’til they hear the Gospel bell! I know the Word is living breath, it doesn’t return void It stands against the fear of death, by all the angels overjoyed. So I will preach to shadows still, I’ll minister to air I’ll magnify His sovereign will, and know that He is there. I don't need a thousand faces, or a packed and noisy hall I just need to fill these spaces with the sound of His own call. My shoulders ache beneath the load, the enemy whispers, "Lay it down." This is a long and lonely road, far from the Promised Heavenly Crown. But those whispers break against the Rock, they shatter on the truth I hold— His time is not tied to the clock, His promises will not grow old. There’s an empty pew in the Father’s house, and the cold reality sinks in My mind starts sinking, like a heavy stone, trapped in the cage of what has been. But I feel the Spirit stirring now, a fire that defiance cannot quell My faith is rising, I make this vow: I'm calling heaven down, spreading the word, ’til they hear the Gospel bell Let the tide of doubt recede, let the fear dissolve in light! This is not about the seed, it’s about the Gardener’s might! I’m a vessel, weak and cracked, but filled with the Oil of Life! The harvest that the Savior lacked, will conquer all this human strife! I will not look sideways at the door, I will look upward to the Son! Give me the strength to stand for more, until the Kingdom race is There’s an empty pew in the Father’s house, and the cold reality sinks in My mind starts sinking, like a heavy stone, trapped in the cage of what has been. But I feel the Spirit stirring now, a fire that defiance cannot quell My faith is rising, I make this vow: I'm calling heaven down, spreading the word, ’til they hear the Gospel bell! My faith is rising... (Oh, it’s rising!) I’m calling heaven down... (Lord, send the fire!) I won’t stop spreading the word, no, I won’t stop spreading the word! (Fade out with repeated phrase) Empty pew... but my faith is rising! Calling heaven down... calling heaven down!
