Catch A Break

Every night we pray, but the weight don’t fade, The bills pile high, and the rent ain’t paid, I’m grinding every hour, but it feels so fake, Can me and my wife ever catch a break? She’s holding down the love, while I’m losing rest, Eyes tired, but her spirit still shines through stress, I see the quiet worry that she tries to mask, A heavy heart hiding in each task. Tears fall soft when she thinks I ain’t near, But, I can hear her pain in the silence clear, I just want to give her the life she deserves, Not endless storms with no calming words. But, hope flickers, like a light in the rain, We hold hands tighter just to fight through the pain, And though tomorrow ain’t promised, we pray awake, Can me and my wife ever catch a break? We built this home brick by borrowed brick, But, the world keeps pushing, and it’s hitting quick, She deserves sunny skies, not these constant shades, Can me and my wife ever catch a break? From the cradle of our sons to the weight we bear, We’ve traded comfort just to prove we care, We’ve starved our wants so the kids eat first, And stitched up wounds though our pride still hurts. When love is the anchor, the storm still bites, But we clutch to the mast through the hardest nights, She’s my partner in the fire, torch in the dark, The one who fuels the rhythm in a worn-out heart. If pain’s a teacher, we done learned enough, If struggle’s a ladder, then the climb is tough, But I keep faith strong, no matter what it takes, Can me and my wife ever catch a break?
