Alright ya’ll! If you follow me on IG or any social media, you’ll know I have a song coming out this Friday… but since I LOVE the community here, I thought I’d drop it here first. Through my life I battled addiction, it wasn’t always as bad but after my brother passed away, things got really messy for me… I started drinking a ton. I was in LA at the time and lived here for another year and a half after he passed just drinking and going wild… as a 21/22 year old kid would Flash forward I left LA, moved to Miami & thought I escaped the toxic city of LA… nope 😂 turns out I was the problem all along… shocker ANYWAY LONG STORY SHORT… when I made the decision to move back to LA from Miami it was because I needed treatment for my PTSD & I found sobriety along the way. Almost nobody knew what I was doing, and most of my old LA friends didn’t know I was even back in LA… so on March 1st I hit 1 year of sobriety and decided this song would explain the story of what happened over this last year. I don’t care how cheesy this sounds and I know we just are getting to know each other, but I am super proud of you, bro. Sobriety is not an easy thing to accomplish and it’s an everyday struggle. I relate to you in more ways than I can put into words From you losing your brother to the words you wrote that struck a cord with me ( things got messy) I know that expression all too well I myself have found sobriety as well. I haven’t had a drink in almost 2 years. My mother’s overdose was the last straw, drugs and alcohol or one of the same. I’ve lost over 10 friends. I grew up in a sandbox with to fentanyl overdoses and I’ve lost people to psoriasis of the liver Regardless of where your journey takes you, your brother is proud of you and a complete stranger from Toronto is as well.
