I'm living life on the edge, it's a dangerous game In the streets every day, where the violence remains Got my back against the wall, feeling all this pain But I gotta stay strong, can't let it drive me insane Grew up in the struggle, no handouts or favors Had to hustle and grind, just to stack up my paper Lost some friends along the way, they couldn't handle the pressure But I'll never fold, I'm a born survivor, no lesser I'm just a gangster with a heart of gold But these streets are cold, they're taking their toll I've seen too many homies go down in a blaze And now I'm stuck in this never-ending maze I'm just a product of my environment But I'm tired of all this violence I wanna make a change, but it's hard to break free When the only life I know is the one on these streets I've lost too many friends to the game And I'm haunted by their faces, it's driving me insane I wanna leave this life behind, find a better way But it's like I'm trapped in this never-ending fray I'm a gangster with a heavy heart I never wanted this life from the start But now I'm in too deep, there's no turning back I'm just a gangster's lament, stuck on this endless track They say the streets don't love nobody, it's a cold world But I'm out here on my own, gotta make my rules unfurled Every day is a battle, gotta stay on my toes But I'm a gangster at heart, that's just how it goes I've seen too much pain, too much bloodshed But I keep pushing forward, no time to dread I'm a soldier in this war, fighting for my respect Gangster's lament, but I ain't finished yet
