Fast Mind
#BrielleBlack #FastMind Intro Hey, it’s Brielle. I can’t always understand my flow. That doesn’t mean it’s not telling the truth. Fast mind. Slow breath. Run it. Verse 1 I got a fast mind, slow breath, chest full of pressure, letters in my head like they’re trying to form treasure, A to Z, Z to A, I reverse every measure, if the word don’t make sense, maybe sense needs a stretcher. I was a little girl thinking way too loud, head in the stars but my feet in the crowd, they said, “Calm down,” they said, “Sit down,” I was building whole worlds while they passed notes around. School bell rang like a cage with a rhythm, raise your hand just to ask for permission, twelve years learning how to stand in position, then they wonder why the soul needs ignition. I don’t read with my eyes, I read with my scars, paper bills, paper trees, paper dreams behind bars, you cut down the forest just to print out a charge, then ask why nobody can breathe where they are. Pre-Hook I don’t need fake calm, I need air in my body, I don’t need your rules if your rules never got me, I don’t need to shrink just to look like I’m fine, I need one real breath and a little more time. Hook Fast mind, slow breath, I’m still here, too much noise, but the message got clear, one step, two steps, don’t go numb, I don’t run from the storm, I become. Fast mind, slow breath, chest still tight, I make truth out of too much light, one step, two steps, don’t fold, I turn pain into motion, then gold. Verse 2 Zero, one, zero, one, count till it breaks you, every number after that just repeats what they gave you, but the space in between is the part that can save you, that little pause where the old world can’t shape you. Heaven, hell, paradise, same old labels, words on a plate at a man-made table, devil got a D before evil in the fable, truth gets weird when the dictionary’s unstable. I mix French with English because pain got no border, emotion comes first, then the words find order, if I sound out of line, I’m just crossing the corner, where a scared little kid became her own performer. I been bad, been good, been between both lanes, laughed through fire with a flood in my veins, tried to be loved by giving too much away, then wondered why empty had learned my name. Verse 3 Mama, papa, tell the kids they are more than surviving, more than a shift, more than bills arriving, more than a title, more than grinding and driving, more than pretending they’re fine while they’re dying. You work all week for a paper permission, same desk, same screen, same quiet submission, then they call it a life because you paid the tuition, but your heart needs more than a job description. Eat, breathe, drink, sleep, do it all over, four little needs with the weight of a boulder, but somewhere inside you, under the folder, there’s a child still asking to be held closer. So love yourself first, not in a soft little slogan, I mean real love when the old wounds open, when your mind runs wild and your chest feels broken, don’t make shame the language you’re fluent in speaking. Bridge Listen. Don’t go numb. Don’t get small. Don’t turn your pain into a costume for the room. You are not crazy because your mind moves fast. You are not weak because you need a pause. You are not behind because you had to survive first. Take the breath. That’s still movement. Final Verse I got a fast mind, slow breath, fire in the wiring, too many thoughts, but the truth keeps climbing, I don’t need a throne, I need peace while I’m rising, I don’t need control, I need self-recognizing. If I go too fast, let the bass slow the panic, if I talk too wild, know the wound got dramatic, if the line don’t land, let it orbit the planet, some truth takes time before the heart understands it. I’m not here to break you, I’m here to wake something, not here to own you, I’m here to name something, not here to fake love, I’m here to frame something, fast mind, slow breath, still becoming. Final Hook Fast mind, slow breath, I’m still here, too much noise, but the message got clear, one step, two steps, don’t go numb, I don’t run from the storm, I become. Fast mind, slow breath, chest still tight, I make truth out of too much light, one step, two steps, don’t fold, I turn pain into motion, then gold. Outro Hey, it’s Brielle. You don’t have to understand every thought tonight. Just don’t disappear inside them. Fast mind. Slow breath. Move.
