vault born lies
⸻ Vault-Born Lies Born in the steel, under fluorescent sun, Never seen a sky, never watched one dawn Posters on the wall say the outside’s done, “Stay safe, stay small, till the countdown’s won.” Numbers on jumpsuits — not a name that’s ours, Every dream we get’s behind these bars. Elders preach fear like it’s written in stars, But whispers spread quiet in the maintenance scars. ⸻ Livin’ in a vault thinkin’ shelter means safe, But safety’s just a story that they locked in place. We’re survivors in a tomb where they hide what we face — Sheltered from the truth till it bursts in our veins. Sheltered — but never saved… sheltered — but never saved. ⸻ They said the world outside was broken, burned, and cursed — But creatures in the dark ain’t the only ones worse. Radiation changed skin, but the lies changed soul — Who’s the monster now when control’s the goal? War never ends — sometimes it starts in a hole. ⸻ Scratches on the vault door, echoes in the vents, Lab coats whisper tests, but they never ask consent. Claws drag steel — unknown experiment, Makes you wonder what they meant by “government.” Think the mutants are the threat? Nah, look in the glass, The overseer smiles with a hand on the gas. Creatures outside grew teeth — humans here grew masks. One broke bones… the other broke past. ⸻ Air recycled — truth withheld — time forgotten — We ain’t buried — we were planted — And the roots are rotten. ⸻ If the vault is a womb, then the world is the test — And the ones who escape are the cursed and the blessed. Some wear scars… some wear lies… Either way, we rise.
