Grief

Today we are losing the value of “Shok.” Grieving at the time of someone’s death. In Hindu tradition there is a 13 day ritual. Prayers people attend to show grief to the families and friends of the deceased. To remember the soul that has left the “shareer.” Except something is not right about the live devotional music. Jhanj is an instrument that should be used only at festivities. Like Holi. Jhanj were only used in Phagwa back in the day according to my dad. Done right by our forefathers. Late night kava drinking. Why hustle the grieving families? Let me take you for a ride to what departure is. “Kari vilap sab rowani rani, maha vipati kimi jaye bakhani.” “Suni vilap dukhu dukh laga, dhiraj kar dhiraj bhaga.” When King Dashrath was about to leave his mortal body all three Queens of his were crying. Witnessing such weeping. Even grief felt grieved. Patience became impatience. I’m talking about the hardship of a grieving families. Don’t use them instead try to support in any way you can. I’m not targeting anyone. Thought I spit the truth out to what people in the community find totally normal.
