At one of the Navaratri I stayed at the Goddess Durga temple in Calgary Alberta. I was told to do fasting which means no alcohol or meat for a week by the priest. The prayer was for 9 days. Each day was represented to each form of Goddess Durga. I still drank alcohol the prior week but didn’t eat any meat. The last day I broke that fasting too by accidentally eating meat at a hall party. When I went to the temple to stay there for 9 days I was a little worried because I didn’t fast properly. On Goddess Kali’s day the priest of the temple pierced trishul in both my ears and cheeks. There were more people there and one more guy got his ears pierced. After doing 108 arounds of the temple the priest said there’s blood falling from your both ears. You must have destroyed your proper fasting and looked at mine and said I had no blood coming out. Then the priest tried me on with Goddess Kali. He asked me to promise Goddess Kali that you’ll never smoke cigarettes again. In my mind I said don’t listen to the priest because I’m not making any promises with you. I went outside and lit up a cigarette. Nothing inauspicious happened to me after that.
