Up town up town Up town I was born to be a mic controller/ true Mc in my veins I’m just doing my thing/ I ride the wave of the beat like I’m surfing/ been writing for over 20 years I’ve put my work it/ subtle things in life are precious you gotta know it/ and the seeds of knowledge is power I keep sowing/ believe you can be anything that you want to/ true values in life if what I often hold to/ never let the hard things in life fold you/ learn from your mistakes and let it coach you/ and you’ll do better next time I told you/ you don’t owe me and I don’t owe you/ I got a Jones in my bones that won’t leave me alone/ our history of black kings and queens that sat on the thrown/ and we were not left in this world all alone/ and all of us are made different no clones/ they say only the strong survive/ and the weak they die/ are those the only examples that we can provide/ gotta make a change now we gotta try/ I beg to differ I wanna be an uplifter/ opposite of the things in life that come to split us/ I’m finding my way I gotta follow my heart/ and I think I’ll be alright when I start/ nothing in this world could tear us apart/ as long as we stay on track and fight hard/
