# 💔 **A Mother's Confession** 💔 --- ## **[Intro]** I wrote this at 4 AM… when the silence got so loud I could hear every moment I missed with you. This is for my three sons… the pieces of my soul walking around without me. Jeremiah… baby… where do I even start? You were the first little human to live inside my heart, I felt you kick, I talked to you before you had a name, And I swore to God I'd protect you — now I choke on all that shame, Ten years old and you probably think your mama chose to leave, That I packed my love up with me — baby, please believe, I clawed, I screamed, I begged until my voice gave out, But the system doesn't care about a mother's broken shout, You know what kills me, Jeremiah? You probably waited by the door, Thinking, "Mama's coming back," then you stopped waiting anymore, That thought alone — it sits on my chest like a coffin lid, I can't breathe when I think about the damage that it did, I was supposed to be your WARRIOR, your fire, your frontline, I was supposed to tear this world apart to keep you mine, And I didn't fight hard enough — I gotta live with that, That guilt don't sleep, it don't rest, baby, that's a fact, Some nights I hold your baby clothes and smell 'em just to cope, Rocking back and forth alone just trying to find some hope, You're TEN now — do you still laugh the same? Still love the same? Do you flinch when people leave? Baby… that's my blame, Jeremiah, I'm so sorry that I wasn't strong enough, That the world broke mama down when you needed me to be tough, If I could go back, I'd set the whole system on fire, I'd fight God Himself to be the mother you require, I failed you, firstborn… and those words taste like death, But I'll spend every single breath I got left trying to earn your trust back — every breath. --- ## **[Verse 2 – For Anthony, Age 7]** Anthony… my sweet boy… seven years of life, And you already got a PhD in watching Mama's strife, You saw things no child should see — the tears, the courtrooms, the fights, You heard me screaming into pillows in the middle of the night, And the part that BREAKS me, baby — you still loved me through it, You'd crawl into my lap like, "Mama, we gon' get through it," SEVEN YEARS OLD patching up a grown woman's wounds, Holding my face in your little hands inside dark rooms, I'm sorry you had to grow up before you got to be a kid, Sorry for every door that slammed, for every night I hid, Sorry you learned what pain sounds like from YOUR OWN MAMA'S MOUTH, Sorry the storm inside my life burned your whole childhood out, You probably flinch at loud voices now, don't you, baby? Probably get quiet when things get crazy, That's MY fault — I put those reflexes in your bones, I gave you survival skills when I should've given you a HOME, Anthony, I replay the moments — you standing in the hallway, Eyes wide, little fists balled up, trying to be brave always, You were protecting ME — a seven-year-old protecting his mother, When it should've been the other way, should've been no other, I'm drowning in this guilt, baby, and I don't know how to swim, But I need you to know — every single prayer starts and ends with him, With YOU — my Anthony — my brave, brave boy, Mama's sorry she turned your innocence into a decoy, I should've bled before I let you bleed, I should've starved before I let you need, I'm sorry, baby — God, I'm SORRY, Mama carries this like a cross — this is my Calvary. --- ## **[Verse 3 – For Deshawn, Age 4]** Deshawn… *exhale*… my baby… my last… my littlest king, Four years old and already the most loving human being, You came into this broken world, into this broken home, And somehow — SOMEHOW — you made sure nobody felt alone, Do you even understand what you did for us, baby? You'd toddle over when the room went dark and crazy, Put your tiny hand on someone's cheek and say, "You otay?" Four years old and playing God — taking all our pain away, You'd check on Jeremiah — tug his shirt, look up and smile, You'd sit with Anthony in silence, just to stay a while, Then you'd find me — broken, hollow, crying on the floor, And you'd lay your little body next to mine and just… be there. Nothing more. AND THAT WRECKED ME, DESHAWN — because YOU were the baby, YOU should've been the one protected, not the one who saved me, What kind of mama lets a four-year-old carry a family's grief? What kind of world makes a toddler be everybody's relief? Your heart is so big it scares me — because this world is cruel, And I'm terrified that somebody will break my golden jewel, You loved us when we were unlovable, held us when we shattered, You made everybody feel like they were the one who mattered, My baby boy… my angel… my four-year-old saint, You painted love over everything — over all the pain, over all the taint, I don't deserve you, Deshawn — but God sent you anyway, Like He looked down on all my wreckage and said, "She needs grace today," And He sent YOU — wrapped in dimples, smelling like baby lotion, The only peace I've known inside this hurricane of emotion, I love you deeper than these words could ever hold, You're four years old but you carry a thousand-year-old soul. --- ## **[Outro]** *(Spoken, barely holding it together)* Jeremiah… I should've fought harder. I know that. And I will NEVER forgive myself. Anthony… You should've never seen Mama like that. You should've never had to be strong. I'm so sorry, baby. Deshawn… You kept us alive with nothing but love. Four years old and you were the strongest one in the room. I don't know if these words are enough. They're probably not. But I need you to hear me — I didn't leave because I wanted to. I didn't stop because I gave up. I broke… and by the time I put myself back together, the door was already closed. But I'm still here. Still breathing. Still fighting. Still YOUR mama. And nothing on this earth — no court, no paper, no distance, no time — will EVER change that. **I love you three more than I love being alive.** **And I'm sorry. God, I'm sorry.** — *Mama* 💛🕊️
