What You See
[Intro] Tell me what you see… When you look at me… Is it scars? Is it stars? Is it war underneath? Cause every smile got a backstory. [Verse 1] Tell me what you see when the lights go low, When the crowd goes home and the truth all shows, Do you see a girl with a fire in her soul? Or a tired little heart trying hard not to fold? See I laugh real loud but I think too deep, Got ghosts in my head when I can’t get sleep, Got dreams so big they make my chest ache, Trying not to drown in the mess life makes. Tell me what you hear when I spit these bars, Do they sound like rage or healing scars? Cause every damn lyric got blood in the ink, Every pause got thoughts I was scared to think. [Pre-Chorus] I been broken, rebuilt, bent, not buried, Heavy soul but the hope still carried, World tried hard just to make me cold, But there’s still gold living in my bones. [Chorus] Tell me what you see… When you’re staring back at me, Do you see the storm? Or the strength underneath? Cause I’m half angel, half wildfire smoke, Half stitched-up dreams, half barely cope, But I still stand when the whole world leaves… So tell me… Tell me what you see. [Verse 2] Tell me what you see in these butterfly clouds, In the loud mouth laugh when the room shuts down, In the south-west nights where the cold wind bites, Where we learned real quick how to survive hard lives. I seen fake love dressed like loyalty, Seen weak men hide behind royalty, Seen good hearts fade from the pressure and grief, Still I plant hope like roots underneath. Cause pain made poetry outta me, Turned cracked pathways to philosophy, Now every beat feels like therapy, Trying to free the kid that still lives in me. [Bridge] And maybe I’m too much for some people, Too honest, too loud, too equal, But I’d rather be raw than artificial, Rather die real than live superficial. [Final Chorus] So tell me what you see… A survivor or a tragedy? A fighter with wings? Or a soul still bleeding? Cause I’m still learning how to heal these seams, Still chasing light through broken dreams, Still turning rain into melodies… So before you judge me— Tell me what you see. [Outro] Tell me what you see… When the mask falls off of me… Cause underneath all the noise and grief… I’m still just somebody Trying to believe. [Extra Verse] Ghost whispers in my ear, “Don’t you give into fear,” Keep hope near, even when the road gets weird, Even when the whole damn world disappears. Keep that hope in a backpack pocket, Lock it down tight then launch it like a rocket, Don’t stop it, not for pain, not gossip, Not for dead-end dreams or people toxic. Cause the dark gets loud when your soul grows bright, Demons love war with a hopeful mind, But I still walk tall through the coldest nights, With a cracked-up heart and these butterfly skies. See hope ain’t weak, hope fights back, Hope’s that one light in a pitch-black trap, Hope’s that voice saying “get back up,” When your whole damn world gets smashed to dust. So if you hear ghosts when the rainstorm screams, Don’t lose yourself in broken dreams, Take that hurt, make fire from it, Then point at the sky and fly right through it.
