Elijah Firetime Parable written by Joy Payne
[Hook] I got another parable, listen close to the rhyme, This one’s about Elijah, but the real truth was time. People think the fire was the victory sign, But the battle wasn’t fire, it was hearts intertwined. [Verse] People think that Elijah won his battle when God sent fire from heaven, They think it proved his God was real and the others were false, not even. But that’s not the real issue, no, that wasn’t the war, You think he won that battle, but that was not what he fought for. The real issue was people feeling small, like ants in a million faces, Wanting to know how God sees me, does He see me in these places? How can I get God’s attention, apart from all these folks? And my parable starts with a man, trying to figure out those hopes. One day he saw a boy fall and his father came running in sight, To help him, to hold him, to make everything right. Then the man got an idea, hmm, maybe I know what to do, If I create pain for myself, maybe God will run to me too. So he said, “Let me see,” and he cut off his ear, Thinking God would rush toward him when the cries reached His ear. So he cried and cried and cried, “God, see me, hear my plea, Hear my cries for help, notice me, come close to me.” A month passed and the guy felt stupid for what he had done, For God did not answer his call, and now the shame had won. God said, “Don’t blame Me for what you chose to do, I didn’t ask you to do that, I am here for you.” And now I can’t answer, I lost power because of you, So then God asked Jesus, the Hebrews’ God, to make it true. To reveal Himself as true, to lead them back to the will of God, This man led them astray because he thought God’s love was flawed. So Elijah was asked to reveal if Jesus is really true, So fire came down, burnt up the offering, and God’s judgment broke through. When you make up lies against God, God loses power because of a lie, God is about the full truth, about me, you, and everyone’s sky. Some will sin because they think it will get God’s attention, Creating pain, thinking the Father will mention regret and prevention. So that was the problem at the time for the people that day, It was not about making the other gods false, not that way. It was about showing how God has no power under a lie, And that’s why God did not answer their cries. [Bridge] But if you come with truth, you don’t have to break to be seen, You don’t have to wound your own soul just to get in between. God sees the broken, the lonely, the lost in the night, You don’t need pain for His love to ignite. [Rap] Now let me switch it up, put the truth on the track, People chase attention, but they’re looking the wrong way back. No need to bleed for a seat at the throne, God hears the honest heart when it calls Him home. They thought the cut would prove the Father would run, But pain ain’t a passport, and lies don’t stun. If you want His attention, don’t fake the flame, Speak truth, live real, call Him by name. Elijah didn’t flex just to shame the crowd, He exposed the lie and made the truth loud. So when the smoke cleared and the altar burned bright, It showed God moves in truth, not in spite.
