[Hook] People today try to play their leaders, string them along Think you can downplay one? Nah, that’s all wrong I’m here to tell a story, a parable, make it plain So you can catch what I mean when I explain [Verse] Let’s say, for example, I’m an advanced math teacher All my students get straight A’s, every one of them a dream achiever Never had a student come back with less than an A+ Then one day I hear I’m up for principal, and that’s that So the next class of students tried to fail on purpose Thinking they could control my promotion, make me nervous But I’m grown, I know the mind of the enemy And so do the adults on staff who can clearly see They see through the phony, the disguise, the scheme So they won’t entertain the strategy or the false esteem Against me moving upward, standing strong in unity With God over this community, moving faithfully Oh yes, the queen is here to stay Won’t be led astray, won’t be tossed away By God’s grace I continue to pray That He keeps making a way, day by day [Bridge] I write my own parables to show another side of things God’s Word brings understanding, deeper meaning it brings So when the message lands, let your spirit look And keep your eyes on the Bible, the greatest book [Hook] People today try to play their leaders, string them along Think you can downplay one?
