reflections in the static

“Reflections in the Static” I been talkin’ to the mirror, it don’t answer back Just a fractured silhouette in a broken glass Mama said “pray,” but my faith got cracks Every step forward feel like two steps back City full of sirens, lullabies of the street Concrete jungle drums when my heart still beat Tryna dodge fate while I’m chasin’ my dreams But the devil wear a smile when he offerin’ me things Look— I remember nights, ramen noodles on the stove Now they want a piece the second that you blow Funny how it go, when you down they ghost When you up, they toast, but they never did the most Hold up— Let me slow it down for a second, breathe Every blessing got a lesson I ain’t wanna see Every loss cut deep, left a scar in me Now I wear it like a badge, what it carved in me I been fightin’ my thoughts like a civil war Tryna find peace but I still want more Tell me what you livin’ for, what you killin’ for? When the lights fade out, what you really worth? Uh— I seen pain turn kings into casualties Seen love turn fake into tragedies Seen homies switch sides for a bag of green Now loyalty rare like a masterpiece Talk to God but the line feel static Every answer come late, feel dramatic Tryna break cycles, it’s systematic But the roots run deep, it’s problematic Look— I don’t need a crown, I just need my peace Tryna feed my soul, not just feed the streets Every bar therapy, every line release Every word cut sharp, let it set me free Yeah— They don’t hear you ‘til you scream out loud They don’t see you ‘til you stand out proud But the same crowd quick to tear you down So I walk alone with my head in clouds I been buildin’ my name from the dirt and dust Had to learn real quick who to trust Now my circle small but it’s built on us No shortcuts taken, it’s a must And I still got demons that I can’t outrun Still got questions, never found one Still got dreams I ain’t crowned from But I keep goin’, I ain’t done Yeah— Reflection in the static, hear my soul speak Every scar tell a story, every wound deep If I fall, I’ma rise, I don’t know defeat I just turn pain into poetry
