Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ, the eternal Word of the Father, our God and Savior, begotten before all ages, Light from Light, true God from true God, through whom all things were made in heaven and on earth. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, of the seed of David according to the flesh, truly man among us. He lived in perfect obedience, the Last Adam who undid Adam’s fall, healing the sick, forgiving sins, casting out demons, revealing the Father’s mercy and the kingdom that has no end. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; His body truly broken, His blood poured out for the life of the world, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of many. On the third day He rose in glory, the firstborn from the dead, appeared to His disciples, opened the Scriptures, and ascended to the right hand of the Father as our great High Priest. From there He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead; His kingdom is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, and of His kingdom there shall be no end. To Him, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, be honor, glory, and worship, now and unto the ages of ages. Amen. Jesus Christ, the eternal Word of the Father, our God and Savior, born as a first‑century Galilean Jew, with the dark, olive‑toned skin and Middle Eastern features of His people, sprung from Abraham’s seed and David’s line according to the flesh. Through Israel’s story He came into the world, fulfilling the Law and the Prophets, that in His own body on the cross He might tear down the wall of hostility, making in Himself one new humanity out of Jew and Gentile. He offered the same salvation to all nations, so that Gentiles, once far off, are brought near by His blood, grafted into the holy root and made heirs together with Israel of the one promise. In Him there is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, for all who believe are one in Christ Jesus, children of God by faith and sharers in the same grace
