Wave Runner
Verse 1) It was 3 AM, skies dark like the secrets I keep, City lights blinkin’ while the whole block sleep, I was posted at the corner, couple stacks in my coat, Till I heard sirens scream, man, I knew it was close. Jumped the fence, hopped yards, heart poundin’ my chest, They was shoutin’ out my name, flashlight to my steps, Couldn’t take another charge, had to dip from the zone, Called my cousin on the burner, said, “Get the boat, I’m gone.” (Hook) I was runnin’ from the law, couldn’t take that blow, Had a bag full of heat and my face on show, So I dipped to the docks, made the water my road, Now I’m coastin’ through the dark, tryna never go home. Yeah, I’m ridin’ on the wave, let the city fade slow, Ain’t no cage gonna catch me, I’m too cold for the ropes, Hit the throttle, make it rock, let the whole tide know— That a real one escaped, on a boat, on the low. (Verse 2) They had dogs on the trail, choppers sweepin’ the bay, But I knew a back route where the shadows would play, Old man Rico had a skiff with a stash, Told him, “Cash on delivery if you get me out fast.” I was gone with the wind, moonlight on my dome, See the coast shrinkin’ back while I’m makin’ it home, Not the home with a roof, I mean the freedom I claim, Out at sea with the stars, far from shackles and chains. (Hook) I was runnin’ from the law, couldn’t take that blow, Had a bag full of heat and my face on show, So I dipped to the docks, made the water my road, Now I’m coastin’ through the dark, tryna never go home. Yeah, I’m ridin’ on the wave, let the city fade slow, Ain’t no cage gonna catch me, I’m too cold for the ropes, Hit the throttle, make it rock, let the whole tide know— That a real one escaped, on a boat, on the low.
