On The Run
In 2018, I was on the run, from, a medium secure unit, in Salford, Manchester, can I tell them, I didn't really have a gun, though? My mum kept on sayin', 'when are you gonna come back, son?' Fuckin ho', you helped put me there, fuckin' donut. I ain't no fuckin' bum, but I was out on my own, pretty much out on the streets, by myself, but it was fun, who could I lean on? Who could I trust? People would shun, me, shit ways a ton, sometimes, escuse the pun but this game I nearly won. The first day I got to Blackpool, I could see the sun, up above, and the skies were so blue, I got the train from Deansgate Locks, just an hour and a half before, next thing, I'm standing underneath North Pier, on the beach, nextdoor to the prom, I headed straight there, with a bag on my shoulder, from the station, at about half past one, in the afternoon, I think it was a Monday, or something like that, hon. This Song is for, All people that passed away, At the end of the prom, Dedicated to them, I don't know what went wrong, Or what made them jump off. Standing on that beach, a guy came over to me, with carchy shorts on, and a sunhat, he be, somewhat middle aged, or slightly younger, maybe with sunglasses, on top of his head, resting lightly. We started chatting, while looking out to sea, he said 'don't be scared' of it, I remember, I thought me? Be scared of such a beautiful thing? But, then again, the waves, can get kinda rough, somewheres, in some places, so, I guess, thanks, that hint and tip was for free. He then said, please, could you write a tune, for all the people that have died, passed away on this beach? The padlocks that you see, on the handrail, on the pier, have been put there for a reason, its for the people that have, committed suicide, jumping from the pier, at one time or other, they were in harms reach. Chorus We parted ways at about two o'clock, I can still see is face, in my mind, if I close my eyes enough,
