Harbour safety You have been guided in by a beacon From the tall white tower Sitting on the edge of the cliff You have been at sea for sometime Fatigue has set in, your eyes are dry The sea salt leaves a white crust in your hair Your skin tanned and wrinkled Hands rough and broken Your arms are strong from pulling rope You had lost all hope Of reaching land Supplies were running low A desparate thirst dries your throat A dull ache sinks your stomach Hunger causes you pain The heavy rain Falls down upon you Running down onto your boots Dripping off of your chin A coin sits in your pocket Waiting to be spent In the local establishment A dram of the finest single malt Stow away the last of the rigging For you are now home Step down onto the solid earth Ignore those sea legs they will not last Stand down for you have done your duty And carry many of the scars For you were young When you first set sail Now here you stand Someone changed Well travelled you have seen many things But nothing makes you feel at home Until that Harbour bell sounds
