The sea turned upside down On the way back from Kirkcaldy It came down at a vertical angle I almost drowned With a gurgled sound As my sodden feet hit the ground And my trouser leg absorbed wet Spilling into my sock to my toes Chilling them as I go The wind crashed up with a mighty thud On the way back from Kirkcaldy It swooshed and bellowed Sounded lyrical As it played a melody with the clouds Accompanying the vertical angle With a crescendo of rain Hitting into my face Like a symbol falling down a drain The water wept as it filled every crevice On the way back from Kirkcaldy Tears streaming down every surface Dancing with the upside down waves A Waltz with the coastal caves One Two Three One Two Three Look out its soaking me The trees waved to the rocks On the way back from Kirkcaldy Shaking and splitting, high fiving Reminiscing with the leaves As they released them out With a mighty sneeze Blowing away in the breeze Shouting out remember tree How I love thee The Fifers tightened the ratchet straps On the way back from Kirkcaldy Gazebos tumbling down the high street Like the tumble weed between too strangers When they first meet Waterproof hooded grans clinging for life To there sodden paper bags full of messages From Aldi Being swept away in the Urban Decay A cacophony of purple rinses The clouds turned grey On the way back from Kirkcaldy Even the gulls hid amongst the shroud Of bad weather Every feather drenched in sea Salt and vinegar Potato chip Snatched from the sky Like the chip from the hand Glass glossed pelted with sand The Storm was free On the way back from Kirkcaldy Like a wild animal Snarling and harling hail Clutching and scratching Biting and Burling Hissing and Spitting Lashing and Flashing All elements of a tempest Do your Damndest Kirkcaldy Storm
