You don't know fear until he's here You don't know fear until he walks through the door You don't know fear until when you want mercy, you have to beg for more or... Run away when it's dark and cold "We're just visiting them," you were told But you won't go back and as the realization hits you, the darkness fades to black It all started when I was not even 11 my mom met guy who didn't believe in heaven So she took him to church and they fell in love Then he took her out to fancy delicatessen And it seemed like maybe it was love at first sight And we were just starting to feel like everything was gonna be alright But with every good dog, there's gonna be a bite! You don't know fear until you think there's been a fight You don't know fear until something doesn't seem right You don't know fear until you just can't see the light! Everyone was super happy in my family when the information was disclosed that the guy had proposed It had only been year but he seemed nice, funny, strong and now he has a wife And seemed like we were going to have a good life Little did we know we'd later be breathing but we wouldn't really be living Now there was a new house being rebuilt that was even bigger and nicer but it was in vain because someone had a lighter Yeah, there was a fire A friend of my mom's now husband was drunk He was just tryna cook But he got distracted and wouldn't look Before he knew it, the stove was on fire Now there's a drunk guy trying to fix a situation that's dire The stupid idiot put a blanket on the stove, When that didn't help, he went to a second story window and he just fuckin just dove And I remember seeing all the blood stained glass And all the burnt up and now dead grass Around the house but the guy survived Although I wish he would've died And I know that seems dark and suspicious and wrong But at least he's not reason that I'm writing this song! My cat was in that house, my cat could've died But when it came time to save her, the firemen actually tried They put a little breathing mask on the little cat so that she could breathe again And then she perked up with lots of life in her eyes Lord, amen You don't know fear until there is a fire You don't know fear until the situation's dire And you don't know fear until your cat's in that house You don't know fear until you hear she passed out So keep your loved ones close, don't you ever let them go keep them right by your side You never know when they'll dissapear So for now all I ask is that you keep em' right here And now you know fear
