Why do they die, the legends they all seem to die Their light shines bright, then fades away in the sky From Tupac to Biggie, their legacies live on But why do they leave us, gone too soon and gone wrong? Kurt Cobain, a voice that could move mountains Yet his pain consumed him like dark clouds and fountains Amy Winehouse, her soulful melodies touched our hearts But addiction took hold and tore her world apart Jim Morrison, a poet with fire in his veins His wild spirit danced on stage like hurricanes Whitney Houston, a voice that soared above the rest But her demons dragged her down into an early death Why do they die, these legends we hold so dear? Their talent unmatched, their presence crystal clear Perhaps it's the price of fame or battles never won But their music lives forever even when they're gone
