Hand-me-downs, worn-out shoes on concrete, Skipping meals, hunger we discreet. Homework by streetlight, shadows on the sheet, Childhood struggle, a story so bittersweet. Broken homes, shattered like glass, In the rearview mirror, reflections of the past. School of hard knocks, a curriculum vast, But from those struggles, resilience amassed. Playground echoes with laughter and tears, Facing fears at a tender age, growing beyond years. Skipping stones on the river of childhood souvenirs, In the struggle's melody, resilience appears. Childhood struggle, the ink in our story, From the pain, emerged a strength in glory. A tale of survival, evolving from worry, In the rhythm of resilience, we found our quarry.
