From a long list of soldiers we were taught to be all we could be. Standing out was inbred in our history. Helping others and having morals like integrity. Handling situations to the best of our ability. Building our character physically and mentally. As well as our education to the highest degree. Accomplished individuals rewarded with medals to see. Preparing for the future to leave behind a legacy. Giving the world our clarity to this melody. The identity to this remedy is therapy. Going above and beyond to fullfil our destiny. To feel what we're saying you have to listen carefully. Dealing with generational curses looking for a change. Traumatized for centuries trying to disregard the pain. Looking at us differently and they treat us all the same. No matter where we come from or what we did, we're the first they blame. Constantly hoping for sunshine every time we're facing the rain. Trying to make our kids lives something other than simple and plain From a soldier's point of view we are always on guard. 2 And since the war trying to be nor,mal seems twice as hard. The thought of the enemy attacking stays on our mind. Reacting to different situations waking up in cold sweat all the time. Most of the time having trouble falling asleep, the rest of the time waking up every so often of being asleep. And there are some nights when we don't sleep a wink. Those nights we stay up and all we do is think. We think about all of these things, as well as what we went through. Some of us lost our family, friends, and our sanity. Some of us lost things like our possessions, a body part and some even our health to where we have to take medications daily. Most of us go through some type of therapy so many times a month. With that being said we will never be the same no matter what we do, say or how bad we want. By Shannon Vereen . Loosing my sanity, I will never be the same. I look at where I came from and I became. Battling with P.T.S.D I always feel drain. Trying to figure out where I went wrong and what I would do if I could change. The past is the past and I had to learn that they would never feel my pain. Dealing with mental health we go through some things most people can't imagine. Constantly replaying the situations or images in our head of what really happened. Traumatizing us to a point where we are labeled as outcast. All because of the things we have gone through in our past. Life changing incidents, we will never be the same. Unless you have gone through the same thing, you will never feel our pain. By Shannon Vereenl
