“#PRAY #4 #ME” sees the Atlanta rapper in a unusually vulnerable state, though it is surrounded by his typical braggadocio. According to the track’s SoundCloud description, it was meant to be a single from a collaborative EP between Carti and producer Bomani. In between referring to himself as a rock star and then Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, Carti declares his fear or reluctance to return to prison, and feels incapable to not act on his aggressive tendencies, such as chasing his enemies and robbing to support himself. By acknowledging that he has “a date with the devil”, Carti understands that his gangster lifestyle will come at a price, and hence is asking for prayers to counteract what he sees as inevitable. The track features production from Bomani, who would later produce “Sauce” featuring @scoovoproductions & @lucki.
