I woke this morning with a spade in my satchel Dirty people lying dying in the streets Razors blue and lights electric yellow at the barbecue Clouds everywhere nails on the floor A bartender looking in the courtroom saw nothing inside Fear raising my chin in the overcrowded church Far away a bunch of bicycles yelling to the deep sea A car seller stabbed in the back litter covering the bearings Heads flying around me unknowing where they slam The roofs of crumbling houses made of blood red jaws Strangers crawling on ceilings maggots swimming in gutters I wonder why the ants don’t respond to my rage Chorus Tired and gruesome outcasts and I don’t know why Empty images and pockets with no money to sell Surprised I am still discouraged surprised I’m kissing you And everywhere the chiefs speaking of this crazy reality
